so the VA is finally getting me a new chair. hooray!
I'm pushing for a rearwheel drive chair, whereas I've always had mid wheel drive chairs before. However, the therapist is adamantly recommending against the rearwheel drive chairs. She says they are very difficult to maneuver, especially in close quarters and inside the house. I have to get on and off the city bus quite often and it can be very very tight quarters maneuvering around on the bus.
She claims that in 20 years of buying wheelchairs for the VA she's only bought maybe three rearwheel drive chairs.
she is trying to arrange for me to test drive a rear wheel chair but no success so far
Are rearwheel drive chairs really that difficult to maneuver? Anyone have both mid and rearwheel drive chairs and can shed light on this?
Thanks for any input
