Transferring into 4 Door Car Issue

So for years Ive been driving and transferring on my own in my two door car. I am now between cars and find myself riding shotgun in my wife's four door accord while Im looking for something else, but Im having an issue transferring into the passenger side. I use a sliding board and put my leg closest to the car in first, but my leg winds up almost under my butt when I slide into the car. Much of my weight shifts to the leg and foot thats in the car and its impossible for me to slide it forward and finish the transfer. Has anyone else has this happen when transferring? Is it because its a four door and the room is much smaller up-front?

BTW Im a C5-6 with no tri-ceps.
