Repeated Pressure Sores

I keep getting repeated breakdowns in generally the same area. A brief history of my seating is that I spent 18 years in a manual wheelchair and a low profile Roho. Being a C5/6 with very little triceps I was unable to do any pressure reliefs, but I had youth on my side. After my first sore I switched to a high profile Roho. I've also always made it a point to stay in bed until any mark or sore was cleared up. I eventually switched to a power chair with a tilt function and a Roho Quatro. I was pressure mapped at the VA and despite the new seating arrangement the map still showed a high pressure area just to the right of the center of my butt. I even wear a precautionary Tegaderm over the vulnerable area to protect against the very small seam from my linen pants.

By called the VA about the Roho cushion with the pressure gauge, the KT was unaware of the cushion and said that he had not received an in-service on the cushion and therefore could not order one. When pressed, he showed no desire to look into the matter. Has anyone used a dolphin cushion? It's like the mattress, but obviously it's a cushion.

I also have a nonunion fracture of the right hip. When up in my chair, I spend 75% of my time reclining. I no longer develop a red mark after a day in my chair (now no longer than 4 hours) instead I go from no mark to a stage 2 sore.

Anybody in the same boat? Or have any advice...

I am a C5/6, age 49, and 21 years into this ordeal...
