Hi,
my friend teaches future dental hygienist students at our local college. She's asked me to come in and tell them my experiences over the past 20+ years of going and what they could improve or do to help us in wheelchairs.
Since no two disabilities are alike, is there anything you guys would like me to share?
one huge thing for me was having to transfer into the dentist chair. It's a pain (I'm c6/7) in a permobile chair. Ugh. Only found out two years ago that they can move the dental chair over and allow me to stay in my own chair to get cleanings, fillings, etc. Most hygienist don't know that's an option!
