My back's not great overall -- I work long hours at a computer and have some degeneration -- but so far the small syrinx I have at the bottom of my thoracic and top of my lumbar spine doesn't seem to be causing much trouble. I'm very physically active, but it's all cycling and walking, no weight training, so I keep losing weight that I'd like to regain.
I haven't gotten a clear answer from doctors about the risk of weight training aggravating a small syrinx. I have read that coughing, sneezing, or sex can make it worse, and, I mean, I'm going to do those things. :)
Does anyone with a syrinx do light weight training? I'm not thinking of going back to bench-pressing my body weight or anything, just toning and trying to make some small muscle gains. If the answer's absolutely not, I won't worry about it, but if this might be an option, I'll go talk to a spinal doctor.

Asymptomatic (knock on wood) syrinx and exercise
