Hi,
I just got word today that my 62 yr old dad needs to have both legs amputated. He has been a quadriplegic for over 20 yrs and these past 2 yrs he has had infection after infection in his feet. The work gangrene was thrown out on the table this week and my dad is having a very hard time with this decision to amputate. His health isnt the best and im just looking for any insight i can give him to help him move forward with the procedure. Ultimately the choice his his and i respect that but i just dont feel that it has to end now. btw, i get my stubbornness from him so its hard to change his mind.
He is afraid that he will not survive the procedure or if he gets another infection down the road he will instantly die. I think he is also just tired and hates hospitals.
I appreciate any stories or recommendations.
