The Stow-Away stows in its own case under the vehicle. The handicapped seat comes out and will stop at a level the individual needs in order to transfer onto the transfer seat. Once on the seat, the individual can then raise it to the level of the inside seat to make the transfer into the vehicle. The Stow-Away does not alter the interior of your vehicle. This unit can be installed on either the driver or passenger side of the vehicle. There are a number of videos of the Stow-Away in action on YouTube if interested.
