can drinking soda water useful for complete paraplegic.

I am t6-t7 complete paraplegic since sept 2005, i am using indwelling urethra catheter for the past 9 years. One of my frequent problem is constipation. Today i read one article in net that drinking soda water helps in hydration, and easy digestion which avoids constipation.1). So can i drink soda water daily or once or twice in a week. Wil it helpful for my health..?2). Is there any side effect in it?Waiting for ur advice SCI..
