Who prescribes new bed?
The motor which raises and lowers my 34 year old Borg Warner (no longer in business) bed has apparently died (the motor that raises and lowers the back or knees is fine.) Who should prescribe a new bed, and who would supply it? I presume Medicare would pay for it, as I've never gotten a bed through them.
I hope this is simpler than getting the low air loss, lateral rotation mattress I need, but have not been able to get.

Power chair elbow pain
Ever since going to a power chair I developed severe elbow pain, specifically on the side I have the joystick on. I do not have this pain in my power assisted chair. It seems to me that in the power chair my arm is locked into a static position pointed straight ahead with the point of my elbow firmly on the armrest. The supposed padding that my permobil comes with is worthless. I have thick sheepskin with an inch of T foam under it and have even worn an elbow pad in addition. Pain is so bad I cannot take any pressure on the inside of my elbow or on the backside. I have since developed a bone spur which I never had previously, or at least was not symptomatic.
This comes after a shoulder surgery which failed and now I feel was unnecessary and was brought about by altered mechanics due to the poor back at comes with the chair. Yes, there were changes in my shoulder that could be used as justification for the surgery, but it is more likely that those changes were there previously and were exacerbated by the power chair back. I never had a problem with my right shoulder before I got this power chair. Then within two years I had pain so bad I submitted to having a surgical procedure. Now I've got elbow pain which I also never had before.
My DME reps and seating PT pretty much have washed their hands of the situation. Others in the area are even less knowledgeable.
This power chair, my first after 24 years in manual and power assisted chairs was supposed to be the answer to preventing further problems.
However, I've never suffered such physical deterioration as I have is getting this power chair.
Anybody have similar sobering experiences?

I called airport in atl about their park and ride not really to concerned about getting to them but on asking how they would know to pu me up on return

can drinking soda water useful for complete paraplegic.
I am t6-t7 complete paraplegic since sept 2005, i am using indwelling urethra catheter for the past 9 years. One of my frequent problem is constipation. Today i read one article in net that drinking soda water helps in hydration, and easy digestion which avoids constipation.1). So can i drink soda water daily or once or twice in a week. Wil it helpful for my health..?2). Is there any side effect in it?Waiting for ur advice SCI..

so i'm a high quad, no arm or hand function currently and I have insurance through my employer. I have worked there from home for 16 years. My insurance pays for my 3 meds, catheters, power wheelchair, doc visits and any family visits. I have a wife and 2 young sons. i'm just kicking around the idea of going out on my own. Was just curious what insurance would cost monthly to have the same coverage? Any one have any experience with this?

i have to take the antibiotics in the muscle, but this evening my nurse had an emergency and she sent another person. I have to take two antibiotics and I take them in my arms. In the right arm all was OK, but in the left one I've had some pain, and then the nurse noticed that the injection site got swollen.
she told me to put cold packs at that place. what are your opinions?

Wound won't heal ? cant get rid of sluff
Hi,
I've had a wound on my back for the past number of months which the nurses just cant get to heal. It's located on my lower back, right side, just on one of the two protruding bones at the top of the hip/bottom of the back if you know what I mean.
Have tried everything they suggested. Tried a vacuum for the past 3 weeks with very minor improvement. It went from necrotic tissue to sluff but won't budge from there. Picture Attached
Anyone any suggestions on how to get rid of the sluff? Very Frustrating and in and out of bed.
Would Microcyn be worth a try? And which type would you suggest? Hydrogel? What are the directions for use?

So say The day has come all spinal cord injuries fully repairable. Chronic injuries no problem they fix the spinal cord up, hook ya up like Neo in the Matrix zap your muscles alive lol. Pump you full of proteins, calories, enzymes, stem cells whatever! Send you out the door... We're talking healthy body mass, healthy functioning muscles, no problems with the joints, no contractors, no osteoporosis, no catheters, Fingers twiddling, lungs pumping! bladder holds urine in no problem, bowels ready to go., Sensory function all the way up, sensation just beautiful your hundo!! We are talking in Looney Tunes right now I know. But just imagine.

Had yearly cystoscope...weird situation
Ok...so I had my yearly GU exam (with cystoscope) last Friday. Gave a urine culture beforehand per usual and was prescribed Bactrim. Then Tuesday (while still on Bactrim), I had an on and off fever....still have it today (Thursday)....I stopped taking the Bactrim yesterday.
It "feels" like my usual MO for a bladder infection (I don't get them too often). But how in the hell could I have contracted a uti while on Bactrim for my test? I've really never been prescribed Bactrim before (always Cipro). But, I'm assuming the urine sample I gave 10 days prior to my GU said to put me on Bactrim before my exam instead of Cipro.
Now, do I
A) Take some 4 month old Cipro that I have stashed away in my freezer...assuming that the cystoscope gave me a bacterial infection that the Bactrim didn't kill....and let the Cipro try to kill it.
B) Go give ANOTHER urine sample tomorrow at Med Express or wherever and see what the culture states.
Or
C) Take the Cipro AND go to Med Express and give a urine sample.
Thoughts?

So I really didn't think I'd have to deal with this problem, but sadly now I do! I shower every Other day, when it's finally time to shower I that my groin area smells terrible, like bad. There is redness and what looks like a yeast infection but even then we clear that up there still seems to be a lingering smell. It is disgusting I despise it and I have no idea what to do about it... Any help is Greatly appreciated

Cord compression/myelomalacia
I am having great difficulty understanding and would love some input. I had ACDF with spacer C4-5 in April for herniated disc with significant cord compression resulting in Myelomalacia. Naturally you anticipate this to be the end all be all and no guarantees given. However, since this surgery my spasticity has gotten worse and worse instead of better. Left leg and foot clonus is worse. New MRI doesn't show anything is wrong. EMG NCS SSEP all normal. NS believes that because of the amount of compression I had for the length of time 9 months I may or may not see any improvement at this point just hurry up and wait. I also continue to deal with numbness and tingling in left arm and hand as well as lack of dexterity. I would love any input or helpful suggestions!

Small operations in sci people prone to AD
I have a nevus in my left calf which according to my dermatologist must be removed. I am very prone to AD and i do not know if i can remove it with local anaestesia or a bigger one. Does anybody have experience or knows anything about it?

Sinus congestion and low blood pressure
I am a c6 quad and ever since my injury I have had sinus congestion, about 12 years. This is not something I ever had before I was hurt. This is not bad congestion just makes it slightly difficult to breath through my nose, especially at night. I reflex void my bladder and when I pee I get a mild case of AD and my BP rises. During this time, 5 - 10 minutes, my sinuses completely open and I can breath great. Anyone else have similar experiences?

Coli bacteria in bladder - what should I do?
This started years ago. Maybe 6-7 or +- years ago when i got infection from rehabilitation center by cath for an urine sample. Usually i don't use cth but then it was hurry and noone had time to wait when these drops come to the cup... so, few days later i got high temperature and urine got cloudy. And my abdomen started to hurt like hell. I ate some antibiotics and after few weeks i returned normal. Unitill about half year, it started again with fever. Again I ate some ABs untill it was ok again.
Since then i've had problems with bladder every year at least two times. Last few years have been most harsh on me. Some antibiotics are not working any more, this bacter is immune to them. Nitrofurantoin and ciprinol. But they are not working. And sometimes (recently quite often) my bladder refuses to work. It goes full and nothing but AD comes. Then i need to use cath.
Are there any other options i could try?
I should mention that i use diapers 24/7. Could it effect this problem somehow? My bladder also does not go empty after i pee. Should i consider foley catheter?
It triggers AD when i pee. Usually it makes me sweat a bit and then after 5 minutes i return to normal. But now i feel that i need to pee very often. But theres no result or very little of something.
I've been c4-c5 complete 18 years now. I have a job that i can do from home. But i cant do it if i have these kind of problems all the time. I really feel like sh!t. Everything i do frustrates me every day. And this is only a one part of my worries.

Big Blood Clots
Just spent 4 days in the hospital for blood clots in both legs. My left leg was kind of swollen for a couple weeks and then started getting pinker. Right leg looked normal. I felt fine but my old lady "strongly urged" me to go to the ER. Ultrasound and CAT scan revealed:
"Extensive deep vein thrombosis in both legs. On the right, there is occlusive thrombus in the common femoral vein extending into the
proximal superficial femoral vein. There is also occlusive thrombus in the right popliteal vein extending down into the tibial veins. On
the left, there is occlusive thrombus along the entire length of the common femoral vein, superficial femoral vein extending into the deep profunda vein, popliteal vein, and calf veins. There is also occlusive thrombus in the left greater saphenous vein extending down
to the level of the knee." I never knew I had this many veins in my legs. Have some clots in my bilateral common iliac veins too. Heparin to Lovenox to coumadin for life. I have an IVC clip from 1977 but Cat scan showed it's now useless because it has flattened out the IVC but 2 secondary veins grew around the IVC clip and reconnected to the IVC just above the clip area. Weird.
Anyway, nice to be back. Just waiting for my leg to become less swollen and now enrolled in an Anticoag Management Program chewing coumadin like Tic-Tacs.

Researchers at San Diego State University and two other schools won a $15 million grant to continue their work on a brain chip that could help people with traumatic spinal cord injuries undo the effects of paralysis, it was announced Monday.
The work done by the SDSU researchers ? along with teams at the University of Washington and theMassachusetts Institute of Technology ? for the Center for Sensorimotor Neural Engineering is aimed at helping paralyzed people regain mobility.
The brain chip reroutes neural signals around the injured nerves, and a receiver picks them up on the other side.
In the U.S., more than 100,000 people have brain-implanted electrodes to help manage a number of diseases and conditions, including Parkinson?s disease and chronic depression, according to SDSU.
?Neural signals are electrical in nature,? said Sam Kassegne, professor and deputy director for CSNE at SDSU. ?When the brain or spinal cord is damaged, those electrical signals can?t get through. There?s nothing wrong with the signal, but it?s being blocked.?
Kassegne said using implantable electrodes to restore motor function is equivalent to installing a detour in the brain-to-body communication system.
Kassegne said information is fed into a device that converts the electrical signal into a wireless transmission. A receiver in the functionally paralyzed limb picks up that information, converts it back into the original electrical signal as accurately as possible and stimulates the nerves, restoring function.
In 2011, the National Science Foundation awarded SDSU, UW and MIT an $18.5 million Engineering Research Center grant to establish the CSNE to research better ways to use electronic devices to pick up and transmit neural signals, as well as explore ways to make those devices safe, energy efficient and informationally secure.

Random loss of Hand function ??? Anyone else experienced this before?
My husband is a C6/7 , with semi-good function in his right hand, and no function in his left. He woke up about 5 days ago with barely any function in his good hand. He often falls asleep in his wheel chair, and had that night as well. I assume it has something to do with leaning on his arm or elbow for too long, since his body reacts to things so -strangely- sometimes.. I figured it would come back around that day, but it hasn't yet...
Just wondering if anyone has ever experienced this before, or if anyone has any other theories about why this could be happening? As you can imagine, its pretty creepy. He does pretty well with what he has, but now he can't open a medicine bottle, get a drink, cath, etc. IT SUCKS! I was thinking of breaking out the NMES and maybe zapping it for awhile to see if that gets something going..

Icon wheelchair - I need you help
Hi! guys. I am new in this community and need your help for new chair buying. I have joined this community 3 months by now but this is my first post.
I am a person with polio and an intermittent wheelchair user. I use crutches for walking most of times and use chair when I need to walk long. I live in South Korea (currently staying in US about a year) where there are many stairs so I have to use crutches many times.
I have had an Action A4 for almost 20 years and it still works, which means that I am not a heavy user of chair. I got it from a friend who bought it as brand new but found it did not fit with him. Fortunately it fits fine with my body(or my body got used to its size). I also have a second hand TR which I bought one month ago to learn about chair (measure). I bought it on e-bay by paying about 1000 dollar but I think it was a good choice because I learnt a lot of measures which I did not know at all.
Ordering a new chair is my first time experience and I am so nervous about it.
After reading posts here, I narrowed my choice to Icon and ZRa. If you are kind enough to give me some advice, I will appreciate your advice.
I am afraid that my English is not good to explain my question clear enough.
I want to ask question about Icon chair first because my mind is in love with it now. But I have not seen or tried it by myself yet.
1. Seat pan size
My question for Icon is how much seat pan can be expandable. I think my body (5" tall with 113 pounds) fits quite well with 15x15 (this is my old chair size and I am OK with it. I got another one, 14x14, in which I feel so tight. One problem is that although Icon gives me many options for seat pan but they don't work for me. I can choose one of twos. The one is with 16" or expandable depth and with 15" width minimum. The other one is with 15" or smaller width and 15" depth. I can get 15" depth seat but it has 15" width at max. I think that I am currently fine with 15" width but my body can gain some weight and 15" max is a kind of risky. There is no possiblity that my legs grow so 16" depth will be the same condition for good for me. Which one should I go with? Can I order a custom seat pan which is 15x15 with the width expandable?
2. Weight
Since I put in and out my chair of my car (trunk) while I stand over crutches, the weight of my chair is a critical factor. I have action A4 Titanium (with cloth back rest, no brake, and no side guard) which I think is light enough for me. I compared it with my TR (with CF side guard, brake, but after detaching J3 back) and found that TR seems a bit heavier). JeffAdams mentioned in his post that Icon is about 14 pound without wheels) but I am not sure about it. Does anyone have an Icon chair and know exact weight?
3. Wheel base
Interestingly, order form of Icon chair requires my preference of wheelbase. As I said before, I feel fine with my A4 so try to start from it. It has 25" wheels and 5" caster and almost no distance between rear wheels and caster. Thus, my calculation of wheelbase would be 15". Am I right at measuring wheelbase? As I know, Icon chair's wheelbase can be adjustable. Does the form simply ask my rough preference?
I have more questions but can ask them later.

Nurse ? Regarding meds/storage/potency
Hi i have Morphine Sulphate fast release 30 mg tabs for occasional chronic pain relief. Not advisable to do this to them i know but will they retain its potency if crushed into powder and stored. I know it's advised not to crush them such as in mouth before swallowing b/c the medicine is released in larger amounts it is claimed.
That's why I'm questionING whether they will be no good if prepared and stored like that?
I just found doing so & putting say in apple sauce easier on me. So yer propably saying just keep in regular state until dosage desired and do so?
Self defeating ? then right but what you think? PreCrushing all & storing as easy ready powder for quick sprinkle teaspoon dosage will the medicine totally diminish or retain its state of effect for awhile?

Vertebral compression fracture and chronic pain
I hope it is okay to ask a general spinal cord injury question...
A friend, who is also my husband's care assistant, had a vertebral compression fracture (L4) from a vertical fall about 17 years ago. She has many severe pain flare-ups in her hips, knees, back, shoulders, wrists and neck, which can last for days or months. So far, the doctors have not been able to diagnose her condition.
She is only 35 and I 'd like to see if anyone has any suggestions for a diagnosis and treatment. She has chronic inflammation -- elevated erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR) and white blood cell (WBC) count. She had x-rays when it happened, but has not had a CAT scan, MRI or neurological testing to see if nerves were affected. She also has some level of spinal curvature scoliosis.

1. If/when you were in inpatient rehab, who taught you the most about bowel/bladder and skin care? Nurses? Patient Care staff? Therapy? What worked or didn't work?
2. In your community, do you have accessible sources of nursing/skilled care to help with health issues? Do you use them?
3. If you don't have accessible sources, what would you suggest for your community? What would help?
4. Do you have local support groups and advocacy groups that are actively promoting disability issues?

Recently it was suggested to me that the community could benefit from hearing about conferences other than Working 2 Walk -- especially the one that happens every other year at Asilomar. I checked to make sure they'd be okay with a live report published to the internet (they said fine) and that I wasn't over-committed for the dates (I can do it).
My issue is that I can't finance the project myself. When I go to W2W and write the blog from there, I always pay my own airfare. U2FP comps the lodging & registration, or at least they have for the last few years. The Neuroscience Conference organizers aren't going to help, so I'm asking the community.

Anyone ever flown on a dash 8 or another small commercial Aircraft?
I'm in a regional town in New Zealand and don't really want to drive all the way back to Auckland to fly back to Australia. It will take 3hours. The airport here has flights daily to Auckland but they are too small for 727s or bigger. So dash 8s are my only option. Has anyone ever flown in a dash 8? How'd you get on and off the plane?

Anybody watch the Sepang race? I can't seem to find anyone to talk about Rossi/Marquez and it's driving me bonkers :banghead:. I watched it on my 70" TV sitting about two feet away and it looked like Marquez's helmet had just landed on Rossi's knee when he flicked his knee to get him off. It didn't look like a kick, just a knee out. Marquez said he kicked and it hit his handlebar which caused him to lose it. Rossi's comments about Marquez being all over him and slowing him down definitely seem legit considering he's not in contention with only two races left and Rossi is/was.
Had this been an incident in NASCAR it would be all I'd hear about around here. I will throw out a quote from Days of Thunder though -

warm up
so after my morning bowel care i am often sweaty (cold sweats) from dysreflexia. i then have someone use a hair dryer to dry me. But i am then freezing and spend hours after i'm dressed trying to warm up. Since winter is coming and this is a bigger problem i was wondering if any else has a similar problem and how do you deal with it? Any advice will help and thanks.

If some of this/these techniques rediscovered by this man turned out to be repeatable ? there are implications for us with spinal cord injury. If we can control our autonomic nervous system ? then we could regulate or have better control of our immune system and thus heal. There seems to be a lot of untapped potential here.
After listening to a recent podcast, it appears that Harvard will be doing some studies with the Iceman, Wim Hof- who has proven that he can regulate his own endocrine and autonomic system. Wild!

Hey everyone, I'm interested in knowing what fellow quadriplegics are doing for career/work? I've started back to school to work on my bachelors and I'm focusing on business management/banking and finance but I'm not really sure if I should continue down that route. I am a C5 so I do need a lot of help in the mornings with range of motion and getting out of bed, dressed and showered so office work is kind of up in the air from 8 to 5. Thought I would just throw this out here to find out what my fellow members are doing for full-time work and how much of that work is able to be done from home. Thanks for any help and replies?Jay

I am a Washington Medical Marijuana Patient with Crohn's Disease and would like to say hi to all you NWGT members with this being my first post and I have found a lot of valuable information. I have found that quality RSO is the best medicine for my ailments. However, I have tried all the services in Vancouver area and have yet to find RSO that was potent enough. i'm very constipated. last day in which i produced something was on 18. then i've tried on 20 and all of the following days. result was a big zero and gases.
i use supositories (2 dulcolax) and digital stimulation. my caregiver does it while im layed in bed to my left side.
what do you use for such cases?

Participation in sports and exercise, said be cut off?
(Should say SSDI BE CUT OFF)Not sure if this is the right forum, please move if need be. My question is, do para athletes still qualify for ssdi? Can those with disabilities participate in exercise and sports without fear of benefits being cut? Will they reason that if we participate in a physical activity we are no longer disabled and therefore be able to work? I am unsure how that goes. I would like to be a bit more active, within my ability but I know some already assume if you can do a or b or a and b then u must be able to do c. Know what I mean? Anyone know or have experience with this?

So more or less I deal with three types of spasms on a daily basis.
The first the seizures these could last anywhere from a minute to three minutes and go on and off however many times basically you start vibrating, like enough to make the bed and my chair rattle and the screws shake. Legs seem to take the brunt of it, hands and arms also get in on it
The jumps, these are used to be the most common, but now I'd say second. Usually only legs but the stomach and hands can get in on it as well basically the muscles clinch in my case if I'm laying down my legs shoot up and my knee bends or my leg shoots straight, this can't happen with the chair but it's less intense still very frustrating. These can happen simultaneously with the seizures.
Finally The big ones these don't happen very often, you can feel these common even with no sensation your body just feels different is it starting to tense , they're more prominent when you have an infection or something really bad. They moves like the jumps, but they are very very powerful I've been thrown from my electric wheelchair, and commode before they launch my entire body forward . Or I'll be sitting peacefully and my stomach will shoot forward like my bellybutton wants to pop andmy head will shoot back all at once. All of these affect my entire body
so I deal with these of the daily basis, I only take 40 mg of baclofen but lately I've been taking diazepam at night because I'm just fucking sick of it . Physiotherapy helps but it's only temporarily they come back before the night is over, I don't want to take a pump and don't want to take more Baclofen because that drug is going to affect recovery and enrollment in clinical trials. Two years I've been dealing with something very frustrating no matter what I do every night the spasms will keep me up right it's just part of this life. But they freak nonstop and then what are they do the knee will shoot up 90? and then both knees will fall to the right and then will just stay there all night, no more spasms if there are any they are small and don't move my position. Now by morning I don't have sensation like I can't feel touch but my back aches because I've laid like that all night, even my knee seems to hurt after it and obviously obviously it's horrible for the joints and the spine. Now sometimes if someone's available they will straighten my legs, but it is futile because almost instantly they freak out jump all over until they flop to the right and then they'll stay there. After three years the whole thing is getting beyond frustrated like I want to cut my legs, I really want to cut them I want to beat them with a hammer I do smash my hands off the walls to get them to stop when they're freaking out, and usually it works in fact almost all the time it works. That this is a Catch-22 because I want my legs to be healthy so I can get them working again hopefully but the word amputations is starting to sound like a beautiful thing

3D Cell Growth Opens New Pathway for Spinal Cord Repair

Griffith University researchers have opened a new avenue to advance a therapy to repair the paralyzed spinal cord.
A paper published in the prestigious Nature group journal Scientific Reports presents a novel technique to grow cells in three dimensions, without the traditional restrictions of matrix or scaffolds.
By using floating liquid marbles, cells can freely associate and form natural structures as they would normally within the human body.
"Allowing cells to grow in this 3D format dramatically increases their growth and function and is particularly useful for spinal transplantation repair in which cells are transplanted into the injury site," says research supervisor Dr James St John, from Griffith's Eskitis Institute for Drug Discovery.
The technique was developed when neurobiology merged with microfluidic engineering technology. Lead researcher, Griffith PhD student Mr Raja Vadivelu, and Professor Nam-Trung Nguyen (Queensland Micro- and Nanotechnology Centre) collaborated with Dr Jenny Ekberg (Queensland University of Technology) and scientists in Spain.
"In Australia, more than 12,000 people live with spinal cord paralysis and there is at least one new occurrence every day," says Dr St John.
"Although rehabilitation medicine has resulted in reductions in mortality, the current outcome for patients is permanent paralysis, with an overall cost to the community of $2 billion a year.

My cd player doesn't work and I want to listen to music or podcasts from my smartphone. I burned thru 2 of those cassette devices that hook up to portable devices (cd players, snartphones) so I'm not interested in getting another.
I guess what I'm looking for is a bluetooth speaker that will communicate with the smartphone. I see a lot of options out there but I was hoping some of you could weigh in on your own experience if possible.
What I really need is a new car radio set up - or a new car :)

Taking lactulose/nausea
I am supposed to take 30-60 ml of lactulose every 1-2 hours until there is a bowel movement.
I took the first dose, but I feel that if I took the second dose I would throw up. Just the taste makes me gag.
Any tips for taking lactulose without throwing up?

Hi everyone,
My little brother (who is 24) has been a quad complete (C2/C3) for a year and a half now. He has a permanent catheter. He has had a really hard time with this bladder feeling like it's constantly on fire and burning. He had a UTI for a couple months as well. The antibiotis the doctors wwere giving him, he was immune to, so we had to keep changing prescriptions.
His doctor finally convinced him that he should get botox injected into his bladder to help with the burning and spasms. However, that was nigh on 4 weeks ago. He is now worse than ever. He can barely get into his chair since he can't sit up for an extended period of time.
Does anyone know of this happening? If so, does anyone have any advice to ease the pain/medical route?

Hi, I've been intermittent cathing for 10 years I'm tired of leaking and trips to hospital for uti . I'm ready to ask urologist to keep foley in and use this as my bladder control . My Transfer Master bed has broke down and the local repair guy says it can't be repaired because it is 12 years old. I been looking for beds but have only found a couple. My transfer master was purchased back when I was working and had insurance, now I just have medicare and it seems like they dont pays for Transfer Master beds. Is there any equivalent to the Transfer Master that Medicare will pay for? I have spent my time on the search engines but just wanted to ask here. Thanks.

Extreme pain prior to ejaculating
Curious to know if any other male quads/paras that are able to ejaculate have ever experienced an extreme pain in your neck prior to/during ejaculating? I have been experiencing this more and more over the last 3-5 years. The only way I can describe this sensation is like this: as the blood starts pumping more and more nearing climax, I get this EXCRUTIATING pain in the left side of my neck (base of the skull inline with my ear). I'm assuming that it has to do with the blood flow up the carotid artery??
If I didn't know any better, I'd think I was about to have a stroke (seriously, it's that bad!). I have to stop in the middle, which totally ruins things, but I'm too concerned with the counter affects to keep going. Sometimes take 5-10 minutes for the pain to subside.

Hey everyone, I am giving a persuasive speech in one of my college courses of why the federal government should continue funding enter urge my classmates to contact their congressman/Senators to support it as well if they are do not. I have to do a PowerPoint presentation. I've been trying to find a video that shows the extraction of cells from Blastocyst and I'm not having much luck. Hello all, I'm not sure where to post this so if I'm in the wrong location I'm sorry. I was just curious to know if there was any way to get rid of my "quad belly?" I'm a skinny guy every where else and my belly just seems to be getting bigger and bigger. I don't like it! Any suggestions or tips?

Body position and bike configuration. Force RX for C4-C5 quad rider
I understand each rider has different functionality and ability, but are there some generally accepted Force RX bike configurations and body positioning for a rider who's C4/C5 with weak triceps? Should he be more upright (I hear that's the case so the rider uses more back and shoulders, taking the weak triceps out of play)? Should he be higher than normal (using extra cushions under his butt to get the shoulders above the cranks...I've already lowered the cranks as low as they can go). Should he be closer than normal to the cranks? Further away than normal? Any general advice as a starting point that's seems to hold true for most higher-level quads would be appreciated. Elavil and Blood Pressure increase as it wears off daily?
I have read on these forums and elsewhere that Elavil can cause heart rate increases, blood pressure increases, decreases, sudden drop in blood pressure when standing up, so I know it can have an effect.
My body has trouble breaking down neurotransmitters, my methylation test shows this, and my neurotransmitter test showed all my neurotransmitters were low (low gaba and serotonin, which are involved in anxiety related issues). Notice the two ones that were higher then the rest are norepinephrine and serotonin, which Elavil artificially increases (I was off the Elavil for 2 days before taking the test). My question is, I have been on it for 23 years for insomnia. I'm 39 now. I take my medication at night an hour before bed. I have had a candida intestinal overgrowth since before I took the drug, which was 23+ years ago (i figure this since this is when I got all my mercury fillings and developed my insomnia). I have recently had an organic acid test showing I have a fungal overgrowth. For the last six months I have been removing the mercury from my body, and doing everything I can to improve my health, including exercise, removing newly discovered food allergens and eating completely organic, no junk carbs. I have lost 30 pounds, and still have another 25 to go. I have treated Candida since mid june. At the start of the first six months of getting into good shape, I would only take my blood pressure in the morning, and it was a little high, like around 137/94. After eliminating all food allergins, going on a total health kick, exercising a lot, I got it to drop down on average to about 125/87, which is not bad. I had only ever taken my blood pressure in the morning. It was good like this for a couple of months. I never took it in the middle part of the day. My adrenal, and pituitary function had been on the low side, so From Late July to Mid August, I experimented with improving methylation(only a bit) as well as stimulating my HPA axis with a product called Phyto-Adr, and taking adrenal extract called brad kings anti-stress complex. This all made me very tired, but I noticed after I stopped taking them, I had a lot more energy than before. I only took them for about 10-12 days or so, then stopped. I felt agitated sometimes when taking them. I decided to take my blood pressure late afternoon, early evening, several days after stopping these supplements, and it was 165/100, but I was fairly amped up when I took it. In the morning the previous 5 months it had been averaging about 125/87, only slightly elevated. I got freaked out after taking this large reading. I had already stopped all the supplements, and made sure to stay off them since then, but started to monitor my blood pressure during the middle of the day, as before it was always taken in the mornings only. I?m still quite high in the middle part of the day, evening before I take my Elavil. It?s up around 160/97 or so +/- 3/2. 4.5 years ago I did an ecg, and stress test and they found no problems, although these tests are not perfect. 3 years ago, they gave me a holter monitor, and they found no problems. These tests were done due to general anxiety, precautionary reasons. These tests were done when I was on my Elavil, I have been on it forever.
So I?m wondering if the Elavil is keeping my blood pressure low after taking it and after it wears off my blood pressure is naturally high, or if my body now is more healthy, manufacturing enough neurotransmitters now that I?m healthy, and my body no longer is in need of it, so my body is having an adverse reaction with the elaval. Perhaps the rise in blood pressure during the day this is my body?s response to trying to regulate itself once the Elavil starts to wear off in the afternoon? these drugs are not natural and make our bodies behave strangely. I do realize your blood pressure is supposed to increase a bit during the day after you rise but not quite that much. Perhaps because I do suffer from the odd bout of anxiety (usually situationally induced), the Elavil as it wears off, my body does not regulate itself and although I don?t have full blown anxiety attacks, it?s pushing in that direction as the day goes on, hence the blood pressure increase. I thought I would ask if anyone has noticed these symptoms of daytime increase in blood pressure, ie as their Elavil wears off? Thanks for the input. I realize my problems are not as severe as others here, so I?m grateful of any input. :grphug:

I am a C4/5 incomplete quadriplegic I have good left arm use in my brain still seems to function. I have never done shrooms but I feel it's about time I was curious if anybody else has used mushrooms after they have become a quadriplegic/paraplegic. What did you experience when using them? Did it kind of take everything away for a while?

The auto door operator opens the sliding door at the touch of a button. This feature can be activated with the standard keychain remote, or with one of the interior control switches, or as well as with a magnet to touch the circle area on the right side rear red light cover from outside. The auto ramp allows easy access to the interior for wheelchairs and scooters. The auto kneel makes entering and exiting the vehicle even easier. Handicap conversion includes lowered floor, front driver and passenger removable seats, in-floor wheelchair tie-down system, automatic slide-out ramp, kneeling, side power automatic sliding doors, two E-Z Locks, Drive-master Effortless Steering and Brake System. The auto door operator opens the sliding door at the touch of a button. This feature can be activated with the standard keychain remote, or with one of the interior control switches, or as well as with a magnet to touch the circle area on the right side rear red light cover from outside. The auto ramp allows easy access to the interior for wheelchairs and scooters. The auto kneel makes entering and exiting the vehicle even easier. Because an electric actuator lowers the rear suspension while the door opens which reduces the slope of the automatic door. The floor is 10 inches lower than conventional minivans. Wheelchair users can choose to ride in their chair and enjoy the view.
The van is equipped with the EMC Gold Series Console Control System for handicapped driver to drive. The hand control for wheelchair driver was removed by previous owner. Therefore this van currently is for able driver to drive. To turn on/off the vehicle or to change gears are operated by pressing the buttons on a screen. To operate Gas/break is by foot.
