I had the surgery to create my Mitrofanoff last year and the recovery started out a little rocky but now that everything has healed I am so happy that I went through with it. I'm having a lot of leakage though, I can't pinpoint what's causing it, there are days when I drink and drink and drink and hardly cath and I don't leak at all. Then there are days where I don't drink anything cath every 3 hours and I leak a TON. I don't understand what's going on. I can feel when my bladder gets FULL (around 500ml) but other than that I don't have much feeling so it's hard to really tell when I need to cath.
My doctor has prescribed me Vesicare but I haven't gotten it yet, insurance issues, has this helped anyone with leakage? The last bladder spasm medication I was on made my heart race and I gained about 5lbs within a couple of days using it. I'm hoping that doesn't happen again. Have you found anything that helps with leaks (changing diet, stuff like that) ?
Next question: I'm using Cure 14FR male catheters, when I first signed up to receive catheters in the mail I got a bunch of samples, one of them was a small catheter almost the size of a tube of mascara. It was pre-lubricated and really discreet. The only problem was the it was too short for me to use. Do they make these for men? Or do you have any recommendations for other discreet catheters? I can't stand the packaging they put these things in, it's so loud when you're in a bathroom stall.
Last question (sorry!) I was incontinent for a long time, 22 years, my skin down there is tore up. Is there a cream out there that you recommend to fix some of the damage that's been done? I've tried stuff like Desitin but it's just too thick and messy and I don't think it's works that well for what I need.
If you have any suggestions for my questions I would be so grateful. Thank you!
