Attention private well water users

My first post here.... Thru my work and my fellow growers I see a lot of the same problems people are having.... me included.... It all starts with your private well water.... IRON BACTERIA....

Iron bacteria are small living organisms which naturally occur in soil, shallow groundwater, and surface waters. These nuisance bacteria combine iron (or manganese) and oxygen to form deposits of "rust," bacterial cells, and a slimy material that sticks the bacteria to well pipes, pumps, and plumbing fixtures. The bacteria are not known to cause disease, but can cause undesirable stains, tastes and odors; affect the amount of water the well will produce; and create conditions where other undesirable organisms may grow. At this time I have not found any predators that destroy this crap....

Have you ever stored your water or opened up your rez or cloner to see the water is cloudy or milky color with white floaty things in it, maybe even an oil like sheen on the top of water and smelling like an old wet gym socks??? Well you are not the only one... Seems as we use more and more water we are starting to draw up more and more of this bacteria and once it starts to grow in your pipes n such it is damn near impossible to kill.... But don't fear... I have over the years tried out nearly everything my employer sells and NOT one of them works to eradicate this bacteria..... But I will share with all of you in the same boat WHAT does and will work and keep your girls goin good....

You can purchase either the Iron Related Bacteria (IRB) Test or the Sulfate Reducing Bacteria Test, but it is generally best to purchase both and you get a discount for doings so. http://ift.tt/1SJQIWJ

Some of the hings I have tried and that have failed......

1) Z7 from flying skulls.... This is like steroids for this bacteria.... with in hours you will have the worst water you have ever seen...

2) Hygrozyme..... Again steroids for this bacteria....

3) Myco and EW teas... they seem to do very little in stopping this bacteria... a lot of work, money n prepping to not fully work....

4) H2O2.... Huge steroids to this bacteria.... makes it flourish.... UNLESS you run it at a VERY high ppm... Like 200 ppm or more... But then harmful to your plants

5) Botanicare Hydroguard.... Does nothing that I could find in my tests for this bacteria....

6) All zymes and bennies.... they all seem to just be fuel for this bacteria and it just takes hold really good with all that I have tried....

7) RO and UV light.... They RO takes out the iron in the water so then the bacteria goes in to remission and waits for you to add your Micro or any other food with Iron in it and the type of Iron we use for our plants is AWESOME food for the bacteria and it goes nuts and grows very well.... The UV lights will not kill this type of bacteria as it has a slime outter layer that the UV light does not penetrate and when I took my UV light apart it was FULL of this slimy bacteria....

Let's get on to what I know WORKS and stops this crap.... Simple CHLORINE.... Yup just plain old Clorox Bleach... Most think that chlorine is super bad for your plants and will kill them, just is not true... In high doses it will kill them but not if ran in the right doses.... Of course this treatment will only work for synthetics... Organic users will need to take steps to remove the chlorine, but this is more for users that have rez, cloners or storing water for later use.....

So I have two approaches on how one can use this chlorine...

1) have a water storage tank 55-300 gallons (cheap off craigslist) or your current rez... This method you fill your tank and pour in Clorox @ 1ml per gallon or make a mix of 200ml of Clorox in 1 gallon of DISTILLED water and then pour in mixture @ 5 ml per gallon of water... This must set for 20-30 mins... you should have a start of 5-8ppm of chlorine and a end residual of 0.5 - 2 ppm of chlorine after the wait... if you have non then you must add more as the bacteria ate up all the chlorine... City water can legally have up to 4ppm at your tap and commercial greenhouses use water at 4ppm all the time, so don't worry....

or

2) Treat at well house (like I do)To do this one will need a chlorine mix tank and a Stenner chemical feed pump that injects the incoming water with chlorine mixture at rate of 1 gallon bleach to 9 gallons of DISTILLED water from your mix tank (don't use your well water for mixture, just go out n buy some DISTILLED water) then it travels to 3,000 gallon holding tank for later use, I use a Flotec pump to charge my house water lines from the tank that travels thru a back-washing carbon filter to remove the oxidized iron and dead bacteria and chlorine.... The chlorine MUST stay in contact with the water for 20-30 mins @4-8ppm chlorine to kill off the bacteria.... But it is very easy to reintroduce the bacteria thru non treated water, so be very careful....

Now that your water is treated and sterile it's ready to use.... I have been trying out a product called Zone from Dutch Master and it has copper and sulfur in it, which will help in the aid of fixing your roots and media and help boost your weak plants immune system... For the first week I would add 2.5 ml per gallon of zone then back it off to 2ml per gallon for the rest of the time.... Have seen plants respond great to this treatment with night and day results within a week... ZONE WILL NOT WORK BY ITS SELF

Only other method that is reliable and safe is pasteurizing your water like a brewery.... Pasteurization involves a process of injecting steam or hot water into the water and maintaining a water temperature of 60°C (140 degrees Fahrenheit) for 30 minutes. Pasteurization can be effective, however, the process may be expensive.Chemical treatment is the most commonly used iron bacteria treatment technique.

I have seen and helped out a fellow member here that moved to a new place and not knowing about Iron Bacteria was having failing results and now is back on track and having good outcomes once again..... All thanks to the power of Clorox

Hope this will help out a bunch of you that are having these problems... Also if you have beatin this bacteria with a natural means please do share Im always interested in new ways....
